Lutz is a community located 14 miles north of Downtown Tampa. The community is located in both Hillsborough County and Pasco County.
The community was named after W.P Lutz who was credited with bringing a small train depot to the area Lutz. After the small train depot and a Post Office was constructed many residents from Tampa began relocating to the rural area.

A great place to visit in Lutz is Lettuce Lake Park. Lettuce Lake Park opened in 1982 and is located on Fletcher Avenue between Interstate 75 and University of South Florida.
